Hi, I'm Andrii.
Software engineer in Kraków. Andrew works too, hence the domain.
About
I've been writing software for a living since 2016. I started with .NET and SQL Server at outsourcing companies in Lviv, switched to Java and React during three years of remote contract work through Toptal, and spent a few months at Amazon in Toronto working on Alexa's local search data. Then I moved to Kraków, and since then it's been mostly Go on Kubernetes: two years building a backup product at Datto, and since early 2025 Splunk, where I work on its archive storage.
I studied applied mathematics at Ivan Franko University in Lviv, and I still think the languages matter less than the ideas underneath them: algorithms, operating systems, networks, databases. When a book makes me build the thing, I build it. That's how I ended up with a debugger, a Lox interpreter and half a relational database on my GitHub. At work the lesson that took me longest to learn is the boring one: start simple and stay simple for as long as you can.
Outside work I'm learning Polish, with some French on the side. I keep a closer eye on my budget than is probably healthy, and I own more books than I'll ever finish.
